RACE DAY

  • 7:00AM - Streets will be closed & monitored by police

  • 7:15AM - 8:00AM - Crews please follow the red arrows for soapbox car/tent drop-off. (see map below) Wood St. will be one-way in and Phoenix St. will be one-way out. Crews can set-up in the green areas (pit row). After drop-off, you can park your trucks & trailers west of Wood Street.

  • 8:00AM - 9:00AM – Racer/ Pusher “Check-in” and car inspection at the start line.  Upon check-in, drivers will participate in a one card blind draw from a deck of playing cards.  The drawn card determines the placement in round one.  Entries are grouped into color divisions.

  • 9:00AM - 11:00AM - Practice runs

  • 11:30AM - Driver/Pusher meeting @ start line

  • Noon - 🏁 Race starts 🏁

  • Each heat is run with 2 or 3 cars.  Prior to each heat, drivers will do another blind draw for lane assignments (one, two or three)

  • No changing pushers or drivers once the race has begun. (unless injury)

  • The pusher can only push for one driver.

  • Each team will be allowed a 5-yard (15 feet) push at the start line.

  • If any part of the pusher's body touches the ground beyond the 5-yard line, the team will receive a foul and in the event of a "close" finish, the win will be awarded to the other driver.

  • Driver may rock his/her body back and forth for energy, but cannot touch the wheels or ground.

  • Stay in your lane. Intentional lane departure will result in a loss for that heat.

  • Any interference with other cars is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification

  • After the finish line, car wranglers are positioned on the run-off hill and will assist the cars turning around.  If you are not comfortable with your car in a stranger's hands, you may BYOW - Bring Your Own Wrangler.  Your wrangler will have to sign a waiver.

  • To help slow the cars coming down the "after finish run-off hill", some sort of braking device is required.  Bicycle caliper brakes are most effective; however, a drag brake or rub brake is acceptable.  Caliper brakes pinch the wheel or disc.  Drag brakes rub against the asphalt.  Rub brakes rub against the wheel.  A simple two x four with rubber on the end is better than nothing.

  • First place receives the win and moves on in the winner’s bracket.

  • Second and third places receive a loss and drop to the loser’s bracket.

  • In the event of a loss, the designation to the right of the driver’s name will determine the placement in the loser’s bracket.

  • If 3a loses, they move to L-3a.  If 3b loses, they move to L-3b.

  • If 3ab loses they move to either L-3a or L-3b, depending on what’s available after 3a or 3b has been placed.

  • The race begins with the 0-0 round followed by the loser’s bracket 0-1 round.  Next is the winner’s bracket 1-0 round followed by the loser’s bracket 1-1 round and so on…

  • Cars are eliminated after two losses.

  • Trophies are awarded to the fastest “speed-style cars” and crowd voted “show-style cars”.
