Common Sense
Driver and pusher must be at least 18 years of age.
Only one person (the driver) is allowed in the car.
Visibly intoxicated pushers and drivers will be disqualified.
Alcohol is not allowed in the car at any time.
Helmets are mandatory. A full-face helmet is recommended, however a bicycle helmet is acceptable.
NO James Bond or Mario Kart stuff (smoke-screens, spikes, oil slicks, explosives, banana peels, etc.)
Driver and pusher must sign a waiver.
The Build
Cars must be powered by the strength of the push and the gravity of the hill only.
No stored power or external energy sources allowed. (sails, springs, motors, flux capacitors, etc.)
Brakes are encouraged, but not required. There is a steep uphill after the finish line.
Maximum dimensions. 6ft wide x 12ft long (including push bar). Any push bar must be permanently attached and cannot exceed 12” in length from the back of the car.
Weight - Driver and pusher must be able to lift the car.
Added weight is prohibited (sand bags, dumb-bells, cannonballs, etc.)
No head-first style cars.
Car cannot tip over when at a stand still and driverless.
Strong eye-hooks must be attached to the car. One in the front and one in the back. We use them to tow the cars up the hill.
AASBD (All-American Soapbox Derby) kits are prohibited, we want you to build it yourself….however Z-Glas/UniGrip wheels & AASBD axles are allowed.
Wheels
Roller blade, skateboard and luge wheels are prohibited.
No retractable wheels.
You can have as many wheels as you want, but at least two front wheels & two rear wheels must be touching the ground at all times. (see graphic)
All cars will be inspected prior to race. Please make sure your build meets the above criteria.
